I hear you! Here's the thing: I hate 'egg-laying woolly milk-pigs' since they are DOA (dead on arrival) - just take a look at Microsoft. But I'm already working on a companion App, Jobs, that will seamlessly (means: with just one click) incorporate with Bill. You can read more about Jobs here.

Who can use Bill?

Everyone with the need for a simple (in the positive meaning of the word), fast, uncluttered, easy to use and highly customizable invoicing application.

Which languages does Bill work for?

For everyone possible! Even though the GUI is currently in English or German, Bill will work for all possible language. Yes, even for ones written from right to left. It even comes out of the box with a RTL template. You don't have to customize a template in order to write/send/print invoices in your language. All you need to do is to provide words like 'Invoice' or 'Due Date' in your own language should Bill not support it right out of the box. That is done in less than a minute.

Which tax systems does Bill work for?

For all of them possible! Bill supports up to three taxes, two of them can be compounded and Bill comes out of the box with templates for all tax systems. Since you can customize every little detail of such templates to your needs very easily, Bill works around the globe.

What, if I don't like the templates that come with Bill?

That's not a problem. Here you will find more templates and creating your own templates is a piece of cake. Here you will find a tutorial about how to easily create your own. I even wrote an additional App to simplify the task. Download the DesignBuilder here.

Do I manually have to type each and every address?

No, you don't. You can (and should) allow Bill access to your Contacts.app and then adding customers is done with a single click. Bill will even remember already 'used' addresses including the client number and email address for future invoices.

What about single items?

Bill remembers recent items as well. This means you don't have to re-type them all the time; instead you can add them with just one click. Items can consist of a title, a subtitle, the base amount, the quantity, the possible taxes and an optional SKU number.

What about shipping costs?

In addition, you can add (optional) shipping costs and Bill will remember them as well, so again, it's just one simple click to add them.

What about discounts?

And, of course, you can add - or better yet - subtract an optional discount at any time; either as a fixed amount or a percentage of the total…

But I don't print out invoices anymore. The internet, you know?

That's fine with Bill and probably even finer with all the trees out there. Just create a PDF file with a single click instead, or even better, directly send them as email attachments. And since you can allow Bill access to the Mac OS X Contacts.app, it already knows your clients' email addresses. And yes, you can re-print and resend an invoice at any time.

So, it's just all about invoices? But I have to send out quotes as well?

Of course, you can create awesome looking quotes with Bill, too. And yes, you can convert them at any time into a 'real' invoice.

What happens, when a customer doesn't pay?

Bill will automatically set the status of such an overdue invoice to due (based on the due date) and you can send a reminder with a special (customizable) text.

I'm good at what I'm doing and have clients all over the world - is Bill still the right App for me?

Well, if you're that good, you might want to think about outsourcing all this boring paperwork - but yes, the currency and taxes and all the other important things are saved on an individual basis for each invoice. Since you can have an unlimited number of templates, Bill will still work. HOWEVER, THIS WILL, OF COURSE, MESS UP THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF ALL YOUR INVOICES. PLEASE ALWAYS KEEP THIS IN MIND.

Invoices contain very important data - is it save to use?

First, all your data is your responsibility, and yours alone! It is never a question of, if a hard disk will fail, it's a question of when. Also, Macs get stolen, drowned under coffee and water and most importantly, they are operated by human beings - so shit will probably happen! That's why Bill is designed to automatically create backups and, in case of problems with the database, Bill will automatically try to repair it or restore it. However, this does not mean that you don't have to create backups yourself! So, just enable the Time Machine! No, really! Enable it! Right now!

This all sounds fantastic but I hate to have my important data stored in a proprietary application/file format.

I feel you! That's why you can export all your invoices at any time as XML.

Does Bill work with iCloud?

Bill 2 (the non-MAS version) now supports storing its database wherever you want. This can be on your Dropbox, in your BitTorrent Sync folder, on your NAS, and with Mac OS 10.10 (Yosemite) in your iCloud Drive as well. Since the Mac App Store version needs to be sandboxed this feature is not available for it.
